Touchdown passes fight go fight
trophies, crushes, pearly whites
On him to win the game the deck is stacked
Rich in dollars, long on charm
head cheerleaders on either arm
We all wish to be that quarterback
We're all unpaid extras in the Tommy Brady dream
First on stage into our hearts…fishnet, meat dress, high heeled tart
with all she has to say, how could we miss it
Out she comes a collective gasp…She won't stop shaking her ass
long enough for any of us to kiss it
We're all unpaid extras in the Lady GaGa dream
We're all unpaid extras in the Lady GaGa dream
Dream on… Dream on… Dream on
The road less travelled’s a golden mile…we'd all hang with him a while
Acting for all time in present tense
An empty vessel for a writer’s hand…Bat shit crazy's in high demand
Who knows one day he could be our president
We are unpaid extras in the Billy Murray dream
We are unpaid extras in the Billy Murray dream
Dream on… Dream on… Dream on
Dream on… Dream on… Dream on
I hug my kids and I kiss my wife…Sometimes I might curse my life
As I sleep in wait of what tomorrow brings
been known to work from dawn to dusk
to try my best and push my luck
family and friends to me are no little things
So I pay my dues and bid my time
may be off your grid, but it’s all mine
And they’d switch dreams with me this instant if you could
Cause the love I make and the love I take there isn’t any way to fake
It’s all real and it’s all real, real good
So I’ll Dream on… I’ll Dream on… I’ll Dream on
I’ll Dream on… I’ll Dream on… I’ll Dream on
They’re over paid extras in the Al Guimaraes dream
They’re over paid extras in the Al Guimaraes dream
Dream on… Dream on… Dream on
So don’t get caught on the wishin’ stone
go out and make your life your own
act then bow before your final curtain
and Dream on… Dream on… Dream on
Dream on… Dream on… Dream on

Behind The Song...
The Universal Dream
The idea for this song came while having lunch with three work collegues. The topic of being supporting actors in someone else's life was comedically vollied about, and with the free time one has, as a visiting resource while all the locals enjoy their weekend, I chewed on the idea of the cameos we all play in eachother's lives. And though my life would never see fame nor notoriety my wife and I had very much made for ourselves a life that was to be cherished and appreciated. Just for clarity, when the lyric says, "sometimes I curse my life", that is a reference to the very real experience of struggle to make ends meet.... the reason I was away from my family, over a weekend, alone in a foreign land.
