Little Man, a woman’s your world
Hold her close
and don’t be discouraged by the other ways the crowd behaves
Be the one to hold her dear
Be the one who stands reverent
Sow sincere
Keep yourself clear and clean
Little Man, she is indeed the air you need to breathe
Little Man, a woman’s your world
Hold her with the strength and the courage of a tender heart
Play your manly part
She is indeed the ground beneath your feet
And as goes she
So goes he, little man
All is fed from her breast
Sure you’re some
She’s the rest
Attest, attest, attest
Little Man, she is indeed the air you need
The hand that feeds
Little Man, she is indeed the ground beneath the world you reap
The calm you seek
The who you aim to please
Little Man, a woman’s your world

Behind The Song...
Little Man (A Woman’s Your World)
Having written "When Sophie Speaks" for my daughter Sophie just before she was born, I wanted to write something I felt equally as strong about for my son and I came up with this song soon after Nicholas was born. It is interesting to look at the two songs side by side. The song for my son has a very male to male "here is what you need to do" sentiment so often found in a father and son relationship, where as the song for my daughter takes a much more protective stance.
Lyrically, I was thinking about my son's future and the role of the "feminine" in his life; his mother, the mother of his children and our collective mother Earth. The songs operates simultaneously on these three levels. Musically, I wanted it to rival the complexity of the song I had written for Sophie. I wanted both songs to be uncommon in structure and content. These needed to be special songs.
