Asking You In (To Tell You Get Out)

Here I am again, the verge of a break in

My past at the door

I won't let it in

Maybe I should get this thing over

I could set it straight then send it away

I'm tired of the knocking

Sick of the calls

For the sake of my future I'll open the door

I’ll say that was then, this here is now, I'm asking you in to tell you get out

I'm asking you in to tell you get out

I'm no longer hosting your shadow or doubt

I paid with enough, enough of my life

I'm asking you in to tell you goodbye

Goodbye don't come around no more

Goodbye, I'll show you the door

Don't leave like the last time, feeling unsure

Leave here now certain

Don't return anymore

Here I am again, the verge of a break in

My past's at the door

It's time she came in

I've something to say, "It's finally over

I've asked you in to send you away"

Behind The Song...

Asking You In (To Tell You Get Out)

The song idea for "Asking You In" was laying around, half finished and neglected for many years. When the songs that would become Gurleyville started to collect themselves, "Asking You In" raised it’s hand and called me over to finish it so it could be recorded with those of it’s kind. And so it was.
